Dr. Gengkai Hu is currently Professor and Dean of School of Aerospace Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology. He received his bachelor's degree from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1986 and Ph. D from Ecole Centrale Paris (France) in 1991. His research interests cover a wide spectrum of areas focusing on mechanics of composite materials, micromechanics, wave control and metamaterial design, vibration control for large deployable space structures. The received awards include National Outstanding Young Scholar Fund, National Excellent Teacher Award and Excellent Young Scholar Award from The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He was the author or co-author of more than 100 peered-review scientific papers. Dr. Hu serves currently as associate editor of Chinese Journal of Solids Mechanics, and Science China (Physics, Mechanics and Astronomy). |

John Mottershead was awarded the DEng degree by the University of Liverpool, where he is the Alexander Elder Professor in Applied Mechanics. His research interests include FE model updating, image processing of full-field vibration data, active vibration control and servoaeroelasticity. He has published over 300 papers in international journals and conference proceeding and his industrial collaborations include, from the motor industry BMW, Fiat, Ford and Peugot-Citroen, and from the aerospace industries AgustaWestland Helicopters, Airbus UK and Rolls-Royce. He is presently Editor-in-Chief of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing. |

Professor Pol D. Spanos received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science from the Technical University in Athens, Greece and his graduate education at CalTech, where he was awarded the MS degree in Civil Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mechanics, with minors in Applied Mathematics and in Business Economics. His interests are in the area of dynamics and vibrations, with emphasis on probabilistic, non-linear, and signal-processing aspects; and with applications to structural engineering, aerospace engineering, offshore engineering, bio-mechanics, and composite materials. He has supervised the MS theses of more than 70 students and the Ph.D. theses of more than 50 students. His research findings have been disseminated in more than 300 papers in archival journals, technical conferences, and industrial reports. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, and the Editor of the Journal of Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics. He is a Fellow of ASCE, ASME, the American Academy of Mechanics, and the Alexander von Humboldt Association. Professor Marian Wiercigroch is a founding director the Centre for Applied Dynamics Research at the University of Aberdeen. His area of research is nonlinear dynamics which he applies to various engineering problems including downhole drilling, manufacturing, rotor systems, underwater acoustics, fatigue and renewable energy. He is an inventor of the patented Resonance Enhanced Drilling technology, which is being commercialiased. Professor Wiercigroch is an author of over 300 publications (including 150 journal papers) and 10 patents, a frequent keynote speaker at major international conferences, the Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications. He has received many awards and distinctions including a Senior Fulbright Scholarship, a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and an honorary doctorate from the Lodz University of Technology. |
